The 5 Top Benefits of Fiber Internet for Your Business

Computing technology is growing by leaps and bounds lately which is opening the door to many innovations. From AI to the Internet of Things (IoT), technology is solving problems at a dizzying rate.

If you are starting or expanding your small business right now, then you no doubt are looking into ways that these trends can help you. The problem is that there are many parts of the US where the internet speed has not caught up with the rest of the technology.

If you don’t have fiber internet then chances are that many of the newest technologies are out of reach for you. You definitely need to look into signing up for fiber internet if it is available in your area. Otherwise, your business could be left behind by your competition that does have it.

If your area doesn’t have it, then try to pressure a telecommunications company in your area to build out a network. For example, if you are in the Northwest, then here’s the Horrocks Engineers address that would handle that.

Once you have fiber, then here are a few of the benefits that your company will enjoy.

The 5 Top Benefits of Fiber Internet for Your Business

1 – More speed

Since you can get speeds at least as much as twice as fast as regular broadband internet, it goes without saying that more work can be done.

Even a fast broadband connection can still leave you waiting up to a minute to load a website. That might not seem like much time, but that can add up over the course of the day. And uploading documents to your Dropbox folder can also waste a lot of time if your internet is not that fast.

Then there is the time trying to load a video or to start up a video conference. These are all daily frustrations that everybody has dealt with when the company didn’t have fiber internet.

Imagine how much more can get done when people are actually doing their jobs rather than waiting for things to load. Downloading an important file can take a while. If it takes more than 5 minutes, then that time is simply wasted since the next step for work is dependent on that file you are waiting for.

When you have an office with lots of devices connected at the same time, this will also slow things down when you don’t have a high-speed fiber connection. So, you then have everybody in the office slowed down, or you have to install many different lines to make sure that they don’t get throttled.

Lastly, fiber internet is very stable. There is very little downtime when you have a fiber connection so you can be sure that you don’t waste any time without an internet connection.

2 – Security

One of the biggest areas of concern with your business is data security. This is particularly a problem when you have client and customer information like personal data and banking information. Data breaches are all too common and can be a disaster for your customers and costly to remedy for your company.

Fiber internet is very secure and hard to infiltrate by hackers. A common way for hackers to get information is to literally tap into the internet line which is made of copper wiring. A fiber internet connection uses light and can’t be hacked into the same way. Another positive is that a fiber line is usually dedicated to your company and isn’t shared by other users so there is no way your network can be accidentally subverted by anybody outside of your company.

You still need to take security precautions, but at least your efforts won’t be in vain since many hackers will just move on to easier targets.

3 – It’s more scalable

When you are trying to grow your business to the next level, it’s almost impossible if you aren’t able to use all of the commuting tools available in the cloud when you have a slow connection.

Using high speed fiber allows your company to take full advantage of the various tools out there to grow your business. And as new devices are coming out and advancing all the time, your internet will be able to handle these as they come without needing to upgrade your broadband. You already have the bandwidth to handle whatever innovations come out down the line.

4 – Higher efficiency

When you can take full advantage of the cloud and all the applications it has to offer, your company is able to work at peak efficiency. There are productivity apps that only work in the cloud because of how much memory the software needs to work. Plus, they usually need to connect seamlessly to a database. This is part of the IoT and can’t be accessed if you are on a regular internet connection.

These productivity apps are a great way to streamline the business workflow and also to automate much of it as well. With lots of processes being digitized now, your workforce has much more time to work on the things that really matter and spend less time doing monotonous repetitive time wasters. Paperwork is quick and easy when you have a fiber internet.

5 – Saves money

Lastly, your company will save money when you have access to a fiber internet connection. From the greater efficiency to expanded flexibility, your company will be able to focus on what matters.

And this means growing to be able to focus on increasing revenue rather than working within the constraints of a poor internet connection. All of the other benefits added up mean that you are able to take care of the actual business that needs to be done to make sure that you are competitive and profitable.

The problem is that if you aren’t able to make this next step then our competition will, and you will then be losing money while others are making it. The only way to stay competitive is to make sure that you have the right tools and fiber internet is essential.

  1. Very informative and helpful blog post. Thank you admin

  2. Thanks for letting me know that fiber internet uses a secured system that is hard to infiltrate by hackers. I won’t be using it for business but I need to be ensured that my kids won’t be prone to child trafficking if I’ll let them have access to unlimited internet. I guess I just have to find an internet provider that could help me monitor their usage every time they’re online.

  3. Fiber optic internet, or fiber, is a broadband connection that allows users to access high-speed internet with little lag time. With a strong dedicated fiber internet connection, you can get speeds of up to 940 MB/s.

  4. Thank you for putting this out there. I agree with your opinion and I hope more people would come to agree with this as well.
