When people are in a store and purchasing various products, the packaging items come in plays a much bigger role in their decision than you may realize. In fact, packaging can make a psychological and physical connection with customers at the same time. Because of this, much time and thought need to be put into how products are packaged. If you want your company’s packaging to look more professional, consider implementing the following suggestions.
Keep It Simple
While you may have the greatest product in the world, trying to emphasize this by exaggerating it on your packaging can have a negative effect on consumers. Therefore, it’s best if you adopt a keep it simple philosophy with your packaging. To do so, make it attractive to a consumer’s eye, easy to be transported, and functional so that the product inside is protected.
Consider the Typography
No matter how your product is sold, whether it is in a store, online, or perhaps both ways, always make sure the typography used on the packaging is easily read by all who see it. Along with having the text be the appropriate size for the pouch packaging, also be sure its color coordinates well with the packaging background colors and overall design.
Make it Appeal to Other Senses
If there is one mistake that is constantly made in designing packaging, it’s that the final design is created based on the assumption that consumers will be able to touch and feel the package before making their purchase. However, with the explosion of online shopping, this is no longer the case. Therefore, you need to make your product packaging appealing to other senses, especially that of sight. Since consumers generally make up their minds within only a few seconds as to whether or not they will buy a product, appealing to as many senses as possible increases your chances of success.
Strive for Authenticity
Finally, you should strive to make your product packaging have a sense of authenticity when viewed by consumers. In doing so, you not only leave the generic designs behind, but you also bring back pleasant memories to the consumer. For example, rather than try to use a modern-day design for your packaging, you may choose to go retro. Once you can capitalize on a person’s pleasant memories from childhood or other times in their life, they are far more likely to buy what you’re selling. By implementing some or all of these tips into your packaging, there’s no doubt your product packaging will stand out from the competition.
