Slumped down in your office chair, glaring hazily at that TPS report that needs to get done, you can’t help but yawn. The office afternoon crash has hit, and it has hit hard. You just can’t seem to muster up any energy to focus and get your work done. There are some supplements and even shots from health facilities like INHSTL to help with energy levels, but there are also some tips you can do right now to help give you that boost you need!
Start Your Morning Off Right
Healthy morning routines can set the tone for your day. But, what does that look like? Unfortunately for you, it probably means less screen time. We are so prone to grabbing our phones first thing in the morning, but starting the day with scrolling social media isn’t optimal for clearing your mind and helping with your focus. Instead, try out a simple mindful meditation, journaling, sitting in nature, a walk, or all of the above!
Waking up earlier will also help you start the day off on the right foot. If you are running late or rushing around, you are immediately raising your cortisol levels and starting your day with your stress mode activated. Tomorrow morning, try and get up just a few minutes earlier and progress from there.
Fuel Your Body
Depending on who you ask, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, some say that skipping breakfast is more beneficial for your health and energy levels. I will let you do your own research and decide on that, but what we can all agree on is that food is fuel.
At whatever point throughout the day, it is important you are providing your body with the fuel it needs to stay awake, alert, and going through the day with good energy. Keep in mind that calories = energy. If you are not eating enough or eating the wrong type of food (processed, sugary snacks) you will undoubtedly feel fatigued and exhausted come 2 P.M.
Stay Hydrated
While coffee can certainly help with energy levels, it will also dehydrate you which will lead to that groggy, tired feeling. Hydration is often overlooked, but it is so important to your energy levels. Your body needs water to run optimally throughout the day. Make sure you are having 8 ounces of water – at least – every hour or so.
Go For A Walk
Lastly, get up and move! Walk breaks not only help keep you physically healthy, but they also provide a great way to maintain energy while you are at a desk all day. Walking or any movement that accelerates your heart rate will help to increase your overall energy. Set a timer and walk for at least 5 minutes every hour. If you can’t leave the office or walk, swap that for stretching or standing for 5-10 minutes.
