Why You Should Build Your Own Garden Office

With all the changes around the world right now, have you ever considered working from home on a permanent basis? Most people who do often decide to build a home office into the garden rather than just have a desk or a dining table to work from. Is it a big job? Absolutely. Is it worth it? Oh, yes it’s worth it.

Having an office in the garden is going to disrupt your current vision for your space, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a bad thing. There will be some financial outlay to consider when you build your garden office. You’ll have to think about whether you can afford the extra help from the drilling contractor and the landscaper to help you to rearrange your garden. However, it’s absolutely going to be worth it if you decide to go ahead and create something that you will be working in permanently. Your own office will help you to have a space that will separate work and home life in the right way. Have you managed without one so far? Of course. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do it! Here’s exactly why:

  1. It’s professional. If you plan to see clients, a separate office just looks good. You’re going to have somewhere for you all to sit and chat, and that will make you look like you know what you’re doing. A dedicated office is going to improve your image and make you look like a professional who will get the job done every time. Image matters when you work from home, don’t forget that!
  2. You’ll remove distractions. When you have an office in the garden, you’re going to separate your workspace and remove your TV and all the other distractions that come with the house. You won’t be staring inside the kitchen or getting the little jobs done. You’ll instead be able to focus on your work properly.
  3. You can switch off from work. When you leave your garden office and go back inside, you’re going to be able to switch off properly. You can leave work at work and not bring it into the house, and that’ll make a difference to how your working day goes.
  4. You can claim your space. At the dining table and in the house, you share your space with others. When you have your own office you can spread out as you please! You can get what you need to get very easily and you can stretch your paperwork and files as far and wide as you like. You can choose how much space you want to take and roll with it and no one can tell you otherwise.
  5. You know what it costs. It costs a lot to set up an office, but you know it when you get started. You don’t have hidden expenses to worry about, and once you’ve moved into your office, you’re in! Any additions will work if you want them to and the whole thing is decorated to your taste.
