Using Social Media To Your Advantage: A Guide For Businesses

It is no big secret that nowadays, the whole world communicates through social media. Billions of people on the planet have some form of social media account. So with that in mind, businesses can’t afford to not think about and include social media in their marketing strategy. But knowing how to use it to your advantage is key. All of the different social media platforms are going to use and share different kind of content. But all of them, when used in the right way, can be used for your advantage. So here are a few tips and tricks to help you include social media in your marketing plan, or improve it if you don’t feel like it is being utilized well.

Add Value

In a bust world full of similar businesses and endless social media accounts, you don’t want to simply clutter up the place. You want your space to be a place to add value, even if it is to just entertain. You can use it as a place for customer service too. Focus on building the followers that you have and creating relationships with them. After all, they are the people that could become your loyal customer base. Don’t spam and don’t just send out random information. Make sure that you add value to those that value you, and it will pay off.

Build an Audience

With all that being said, you do need to think about building an audience, in order to be able to add any value to them. So look for like minded people to follow you. You could also look at your competitors following and follow some of them, as they obviously are interested in what you do. But it is worth spending time creating a Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter followers campaign so that you can get your business name out there. It can increase your customer base, as well as let people know about your brand and business.

Always Respond

Social media needs to be considered a two-way street. Customers will come to you and comment on what you share, as well as comment on their experience or things that they didn’t like. It can be easy to shy away from those kinds of comments or messages, but it is important to respond to everything. Offer to rectify that situation and let the other followers see what you’re trying to do. When they see you care for your customers, it goes a long way.

Quality Over Quantity

This works two ways for social media. First of all, you need to think about having quality social media accounts, rather than just quantity. There is no need to be on every platform if it is not relevant to you. You want to use the ones that you can dedicate time to and actually grow to be quality accounts, rather than being present everywhere but you can’t stay on top of it all. The same goes for followers; it is better to have quality followers that interact and share what you have done, rather than high numbers with little interaction.
