When most people think about Ford trucks, they think about the vehicles they see on America’s roadways. These small duty trucks are for small, household sized jobs. That’s why (if you have one of these trucks) you are used to people calling you to help them move, or to move a load of mulch to a garden, or to pick up something your friend bought on Craigslist. What a lot of people don’t realize is that Ford has medium-duty trucks as well (and even larger trucks which we won’t discuss here). These medium-duty trucks are enormous, and usually found on job sites, hauling and pulling and basically being incredibly powerful.
But in years past, there were limited numbers of offerings for people with jobs like this. Manufacturers knew they weren’t going to sell these by the millions, so they had to prioritize certain design elements, namely SIZE and POWER. These trucks were huge, and they could haul. But if you wanted more subtle design choices, adapted to a specific kind of work, you were out of luck. Manufacturers had to make a truck that worked for the most people. But Ford has changed all of this.
Ford’s new line of medium-duty trucks have a variety of choices that fundamentally change the sort of work they are useful for. For instance, you can choose a tractor or straight frame style. You can get a diesel or conventional oil version. You can even pick a big variety of back ends. The way this last detail is achieved is by putting all of the major mechanical components of these trucks within or beneath the cab. The back ends are modular and customizable. All units, regardless of what other features you pick out, are 45% quieter than previous models. There are lots of other design choices which make these trucks new and great, but you’ll have to check them out yourself. Simply know that these are trucks for the modern worksite.
