Breaking Out: Two Ways That You Can Get Out Of Your Day Job And Take Control Of Your Life!

Have you ever fantasized about getting out of your job? Has the average, nine-to-five workaday world been grinding you down for entirely too long and you’re more than ready to walk out? If so, then congratulations, you’ve got something in common with a pretty large chunk of the population. Let’s face it; we’ve all had that fantasy about telling our boss where to shove it a storming out of the office. It’s just that for many people it never becomes more than a fantasy. But why settle for that? There’s nothing to say that being an employee in an office is the only way to make a living a support yourself. There are plenty of ways that you can work and earn money outside of what’s considered “the norm.” Here are two ways that you can break out of your standard work routine and take control of your life.

Start your own business

Like the old saying goes: if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. One of the biggest issues with working for someone else is the lack of control or influence that you have over the way things are done. You might see you employer working in a way that’s counterintuitive or outdated but can do nothing about it. If you’re running your own business, then you have complete control over the way things are done. If you want to push forward with innovative new working methods, then no one can tell you otherwise. There are plenty of great small business ideas out there for you to consider. Just don’t forget that this comes with risks as well. Remember, if the buck stops with you then that makes is your sole responsibility if something happens to go wrong.

Go freelance

Perhaps you find the most frustrating thing about your job is the lack of freedom that it offers. If that’s the case, then you need to look into working as a freelancer. There are plenty of different fields that you can work in, from web and graphic design to writing. If you’re a creative person who wants to have control over their own schedule and working times, then freelance is absolutely the right avenue for you. Once again this doesn’t come without risks. Freelance work doesn’t offer the same level of security as regular employment, and if there aren’t any clients available, then your workload and therefore income could potentially dry up.

While these options do come with their own risks, it all comes down to whether or not they are worth it. If your current job is worth it because of the security and reliability if offers then that’s a good sign that maybe storming out of the office should remain a fantasy. But if you find that those risks are worth it for the freedom and control offered by striking out on your own, then you shouldn’t let anything stand in your way.
