Get Convention Ready

We all know that marketing is at the heart of your business. The process of advertising and branding is the main thing that makes a good business successful; you need to get your name out there and be remembered. And one of the great ways of advertising and (hopefully) sell your product, is at a convention. There are conventions for everything these days, and they are quite easy to find. Having a booth at one will enable you to advertise amongst like-minded people, who are geared towards listening about, or purchasing, your product.

Booth

So the first thing to do to get convention ready is to sort out your booth. Hiring a space will happen as you buy your place at the convention, you then need to work out what sort of stand you need. Do you need shelving, tradeshow displays, a podium, or even a display case? Once you’ve decided on these, you can prepare the rest.

Stock

If you sell physical stock, then make sure you have plenty on hand. You don’t want too much, but say you think 100 of one thing will be enough, take 150. Also, think about the size of your booth – this is where you’ll need to be storing your stock, and you don’t want to not be able to move in your small space.

Other stock that you need to bring, regardless of what your product or service is, are business cards and information packets. You will get through these like wildfire. A lot of convention goers have so much information thrown at them in one day that they need a physical reminder of you to remind them once they have got out of the madness that is a convention.

Packaging

Again, if you’re selling a physical product, you need to make sure that you have enough packaging. Bags, boxes, or whatever you’ll be giving your product out in. Even if you’re just handing out information packs or pens, think about putting them in a branded bag. This is for two reasons – the first is that otherwise, your things will be thrown into another bag of paperwork, which probably won’t be looked through again. And the second is that while a person is walking around with your logo hanging off their arm – you’re getting free advertising.

Pitch

Be ready to sell. The place might be packed, but you’re still there to sell a product. Make sure everyone with you knows how to sell. Have a basic pitch that can be tailored to different people, and don’t be afraid to get chatting to complete strangers.

Advertise

Although the point of doing the convention is to advertise, you also need to advertise that you’re going to be there. Use social media to let people know you’ll be attending so-and-so convention; this will give people a chance to get tickets to come and see you, let convention-goers aware that you’ll be there and to up your reputation within your industry.
