Billionaire Patrick Carroll Treats Chicago Kids in Need to 600 Sneakers at Kickz for Kids

When someone has achieved the successes of billionaire Patrick Carroll, you’d think they would have achieved their goals. But Patrick Carroll has set himself a new challenge: to donate $1 million dollars of sneakers to kids in need. And he was working on achieving that goal this past August when he gave away 600 sneakers to kids in need.

Underprivileged kids at the Union League Boys & Girls Club in Chicago shared in a fun-filled day with the real estate mogul. Celebrities who helped to celebrate the event included D, George Daniels, Toxic, Van Johnson, Disney’s Briannagh, Seraphina Sanan, and Cortez Smith among many more. Kids enjoyed games donated by GamesgoArcade and appearances by mascots “Staley da Bear” of the Chicago Cubs and “Tommy Hawk” for the Chicago Bears. There was also pizza, a live art demo, as well as a DJ, and much more.

Patrick provided all the brand-name sneakers to the kids, there were no donations or sponsorships. Chicago was actually the fifth city in which he created this sneaker giveaway for kids. He has named the charitable endeavor, Kickz for Kids. Patrick describes the feeling of giving a kid a new pair of really cool sneakers and “seeing the kids’ faces filled with excitement . . . . They’re surprised and so happy at the same time. I don’t know of a more genuine and fulfilling experience.”

For Patrick, philanthropy is nothing new. In fact, he has set himself apart in the field of philanthropy for his unwavering dedication to helping children in need. Having achieved monumental success at the helm of his company, CARROLL, which oversees a portfolio of over 30,000 commercial and residential properties along the East Coast, it has always been important to Patrick to share that success with others.

Patrick began giving back to the community early on in his career. He started with donating to food banks and hospitals in Atlanta, and participating in fighting hunger in the local level. He has a very strong connection with the Boys & Girls Club. He currently serves on the Board of the Tampa Boys and Girls Club and actively contributes to the organization.

Having come from humble beginnings himself, Patrick believes that by sharing that success with others, he can serve as an inspiration: “If I can do it, anyone can do it. I am far from your typical success story. I got in some trouble growing up, didn’t go to college, and I’m basically self-taught.” Patrick adds, “it’s important for the kids to understand the message, ‘Work hard for your dreams and you too can live the American dream.'”

The Chicago event was perfectly timed to coincide with back-to-school and the changing season when having good footwear is extra important. But Patrick did not stop with the fifth event in Chicago. He has plans to bring his giveaway to five more cities in achieving his goal of giving away millions of dollars worth of sneakers.
