Sergey Petrossov’s Aero Ventures Offers Bridge Financing Adapted from Real Estate and Automotive Models

bridge financing

Sergey Petrossov spent years watching private jet buyers navigate an awkward problem: selling an aircraft takes months, but the right replacement might appear tomorrow. Miss the window, and that opportunity goes to someone else.

Real estate and car buyers use bridge financing to purchase new assets before their existing ones are sold. Private aviation has traditionally lacked that flexibility.

Aircraft transactions averaged 207 days from listing to closing in 2024, according to business aviation intelligence provider JetNet. That’s down from 265 days in 2019, but those roughly seven months can still create problems. Capital sits locked in existing aircraft while opportunities pass.

Petrossov’s company, Aero Ventures, has built capital deployment capabilities to solve that timing problem. In addition to providing an AI-powered marketplace to purchase private jets, Petrossov’s firm offers bridge financing or trade in options so buyers can secure new jets even when funds remain tied up. Sellers get immediate cash through arrangements that provide upfront capital.

“On the capital side, we offer options most brokerages can’t,” Petrossov told Sherpa Report. “Sellers can receive immediate cash offers within 48 hours, or structured liquidity that provides funds upfront with shared upside later.”

Bridge Loans In Adjacent Markets

Real estate bridge loans fill gaps between property sales and purchases. A buyer secures a new primary residence before their current home sells, using equity as collateral. Bridge loans may carry higher interest rates than conventional mortgages, reflecting short-term timeframes and elevated risk. Once the original property sells, the proceeds retire the bridge financing.

Automotive dealers can deploy similar structures. Trade-in arrangements let buyers acquire new vehicles before selling existing ones. The dealer assesses trade-in value, applies it toward the new purchase, then resells the used vehicle. Buyers avoid parallel transactions. Dealers profit from both sales.

Platforms like CarMax and Carvana expanded this model by offering guaranteed purchase prices valid for seven days. Sellers can accept immediate payment or use the valuation to negotiate private-party sales. These platforms deploy substantial capital to acquire inventory directly, capturing profit from eventual resale rather than just facilitating introductions.

Private aviation transactions operated differently. Aircraft brokers facilitated connections between qualified buyers and sellers, earning commissions on completed deals. They typically didn’t deploy principal capital to purchase inventory or extend financing. A buyer upgrading from a Challenger 350 to a Gulfstream G550 needed to sell the Challenger first, secure third-party financing, or maintain sufficient liquid capital for both aircraft during the transition.

Capital Changes the Game

Aero Ventures is designed as a sort of luxury Zillow for private aircraft sales. Prospective buyers can use AI-based systems to evaluate and compare prices on their own before working with the firm’s team to secure a sale. But the firm differentiates itself through direct capital deployment capabilities, said Petrossov. It provides cash offers within 48 hours for aircraft purchases. The capability mirrors CarMax’s instant offers: sellers gain immediate liquidity rather than waiting months for traditional sales processes.

This lets Aero Ventures capture value differently than traditional brokers. The firm earns brokerage commissions, facilitating sales and interest income from bridge financing.

Why Timing Matters

Transaction timeline compression matters more during certain market conditions. JetNet data showed private jet inventory rose 24% before peaking at 2,016 units in November 2024. By year-end, 7.4% of the entire private jet fleet was listed for sale.

In this type of market, buyers gain negotiating leverage as supply increases relative to demand. Sellers facing genuine liquidity needs or seeking to avoid extended holding periods had an incentive to consider guaranteed purchase offers or structured arrangements providing partial upfront capital. Those market conditions favoring buyers create opportunities for firms deploying principal capital.

AI-Driven Valuation Enables Capital Deployment

Bridge financing depends on reliable asset valuation. Lenders need confidence that their collateral covers loan amounts. Guaranteed purchase offers require accurate pricing to avoid overpaying for inventory.

Aero Ventures’ AI-driven valuation platform generates instant fair market values by continuously ingesting transaction data, aircraft specifications, and market comparables. The platform tracks inventory levels and absorption rates across aircraft types and regions, enabling rapid assessment of whether current conditions favor buyers or sellers for specific models.

“Our AI agents pull real-time aircraft specifications, transaction data, and market comps, then generate instant, accurate fair market values,” Petrossov explained to Sherpa Report. “They also model cost-of-ownership scenarios, factoring in charter revenue potential, tax treatments, and financing structures.”

Rather than relying solely on broker intuition or manual comparable research that requires days or weeks, Aero Ventures’ AI-driven platform delivers immediate, data-driven valuations. The technology doesn’t eliminate human judgment; complex transactions still require negotiation expertise and discretion, but it accelerates the analytical foundation supporting financial decisions. “This flexibility -combined with transparent data and consultative support -transforms ownership from a fragmented process into a fast, clear, and empowering experience,” said Petrossov.
