Pay your Team their Worth

When you set the salary for your team, you have to make sure that their pay is consistent with what other companies in your industry are paying. Remember that 26% of employees who are engaged, have said that they would leave the job they have now, for a 5% wage rise. Make sure that you are not losing great people, purely because you are not paying them enough.

Give them a Great Place to Work

Everyone wants to have a solid office environment and that is both stimulating and clean. If you can provide this to your team then you will be giving them a warm and comforting place to be as opposed to a negative working atmosphere. You don’t have to spend a lot of money if you want to make your office more pleasant. You just need to incorporate some plants, some nice lighting, and comfortable chairs. Simple upgrades like this can make a huge difference to your team.

Offer Development Opportunities

Your team are very valuable to your company, so you have to make sure that you are giving them the chance to learn new skills. You have to help them to advance their careers and you also need to make sure that you are helping them to be knowledgeable about the latest tech. If you can help them to develop, then they will be much more likely to stay with you over the long term.

Foster Collaboration

39% of employees do not feel as though their input is important, let alone appreciated. It is vital that you encourage all of the members of your team to participate by inviting them to give their input while also asking for their suggestions on how they can do better. Ask some questions, take the time to listen to their answers and where possible, ensure that you are implementing their solutions.

Encourage People to be Happy

Happy employees tend to be very enthusiastic, and they are also very positive members of the community. Their attitude is also somewhat infectious. It is your job as a business owner to try and find out if people are happy with their work, their team and even their manager. If they are not happy then you know that their unhappiness will spread, and this is the last thing that you need. Now would be a good time for you to invest in the best employee engagement software, as it will help you to not only keep track of your team, but to also make sure that you are rewarding them properly for their efforts.

Do not Punish Failure

Anyone can make a mistake at the end of the day. It is truly part of being human. If you want to help yourself, then you need to try and make sure that you learn valuable lessons from your team’s errors. You also need to ensure that they are learning as well. When members of your business team make mistakes, do not punish them. Instead, encourage them to be more proactive and give them the tools to ensure that this is the case.

Set them Clear and Achievable Goals

Studies have shown that over 63% of employees feel as though they waste time because they are not sure which work is a priority, and they are not sure what they should be doing at times.  As a leader, it is your job to make sure that you help them to understand everything, and you also need to make sure that you set goals that are clear and achievable. If you can do this, then you will soon find that everything comes together for you.

Do Not Micromanage

Nobody likes a boss who is always looking over their shoulder and second-guessing absolutely every decision possible. 38% of employees have said in a survey that they would much rather take on activities that are more unpleasant, as opposed to sitting next to a boss who is always micromanaging them. Take this information on board and make sure that you give your team clear goals, and then figure out how they are going to achieve them. If you can do this, then you will soon see that everything ends up working out for you.

Avoid Meetings that are Useless

Meetings can truly be a waste of time. A professional will waste nearly 4 hours every week in unproductive meetings. If you want to help yourself, then you need to try and create an agenda if possible. You need to try and distribute this in advance as well if possible. Start the meeting on time and end it as soon as you can. If you drag the meeting out, then this will really work against you, and it will make it much harder for you to keep your team on track.

Of course, motivating your business team isn’t about punishing them when they have done badly. It’s also not just about praising them when they have done well. You instead, have to make sure that you do what you can to help them do their job properly while giving them the mental support they need to reduce stress. It is also important that you give them training so that they can develop their professional skills while working for your company. Things like this are very important and if you can implement policies that support this, then you will soon find that your team are happier, harder working and more productive overall.
