It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in the field, when you’re working in an industrial setting you are more likely to come across safety hazards than other lines of work. 1.    Electrical Hazards

Electrical hazards affect many industries and are quite the concern for those working directly with it like engineers, anyone in the manufacturing field and electricians. This can be from things being installed incorrectly or wires that have been left exposed. Small things such as water puddles inside on a rainy day or a spilled drink on the floor could result in a shock during work. It’s important to make sure all wires are in their proper place to avoid any unnecessary electrical hazards and you could easily do so by using tools like a cable grommet.

2.    Machine Hazards

Most people working in industrial settings operate heavy machinery or are around it daily. Often times, OSHA will fine manufacturers because they’ve allowed their employees to work on machinery that isn’t up to safety standards and is often not even installed correctly. On the extreme end, improperly installed machinery has resulted in the loss of limbs and hefty fines of over $80,000. Keeping everything installed properly can not only save you from a large fine, but will keep everyone a bit more safe.

3.    Falls

No matter what business you’re in, falls are some of the most common hazards in the workplace and can result in serious injury and even death. This is most common for people working in the construction field and in the manufacturing industry. Falls are one of the causes of that result in death, long time-off requests or injury at work. This is up to the employer to keep everyone trained and have procedures in place to prevent falls in the first place.

4.    Hazardous Materials

A lot of people have to handle hazardous materials everyday when they go to work. There’s not really a way to avoid them since they play a massive part in the manufacturing process. It’s incredible important that employees are trained on how to use them the right way and the safest way.

There is always a chance that something could go wrong whether you’re handling something like cleaning products, gasoline or a type of acid. If you’re handling these products you should know how to get them from point A to point B and everything in between. Being up-to-date on training and chemical use can make the workplace that much more safe. Any chemicals that are considered hazardous need to be properly labelled.
