Giveaway: Is Your Business Ready for Cyber Monday?

*** Congratulations to Renee Lindo of Kid ‘N’ Play JA Toy Box! ***

Are you one of the millions of people gearing up for Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving where there are online sales offering merchandise at rock-bottom prices)?  Perhaps you’ve got your eye on new electronics or special toys for your children.

If you’re an entrepreneur with an online business, you may be thinking of how you can capitalize on Cyber Monday for your own venture.  If so, there are things you can be doing now to prepare your company and your business website for the influx of customers.

In Cyber Monday: Is Your Business Ready?, financial writer Randy Myers offers several steps you can take to ensure the success of your Cyber Monday sales.  These steps include: crafting your discount, advertising and even having a backup plan in case you receive more customers than your site can handle.  In my own businesses, I’ll be offering small business marketing and online marketing products for sale (more info on that soon).  Thanks to Business on Main, I’d like to offer a contest to help you get ready for those Monday after Thanksgiving sales.

After viewing the article at Business on Main and thinking about how you’ll be promoting this holiday season, explain in 300 words or less what you’re offering for Cyber Monday (you can include a link if you like) and the #1 thing you’ll be doing to make sure its a success.  Feel free to use a tip from the article or come up with one of your own.

  1. Dequiana, thanks for this “Is Your Business Ready for Cyber Monday?” contest.  Even though I have been thinking about how I will take advantage the busiest shopping season, this contest really got me to settle down and give good thought to and formulate my plans.  I am brand new to your site, so this is awesome.
I have just launched an online toy store, Kid ‘N’ Play JA Toy Box, http://www.jatoybox.com.  Our specialty is fun, educational, engaging toys for kids. The month of November, with Cyber Monday etc. coincides with my launch month.  That’s pretty exciting!  The rub, my store is hosted on Amazon.com, so right there, my margins are very slim.   Amazon.com is known for reduced prices on items, so I have to also sell at reduced prices to remain competitive, and Amazon is not cheap!  My challenge is two-fold, promote this new site and also entice shoppers for Cyber Monday.
For marketing, I have utilized Facebook ads and Google Adwords, Twitter @kidnplayja, and of course our Facebook Page. Ads on our local online newspaper start Nov 1 and a print ad in the newspaper’s gift guide coming out Nov 15th.  I have a website/blog http://www.kidnplayja.com where I have sent a newsletter to my subscribers announcing  the new store.
The plan is to have weekly promotions and announce each new promo and promo code through my website and newsletters, which gets them visiting my website more frequently.  I am hoping that with these weekly promos we will build excitement and encourage customers to purchase now!  Specifically for Cyber Monday, we will be optimally stocked, all promotion codes tested and offer FREE shipping over a certain dollar amount.
If you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear them.

    Thanks again!

    • Congratulations Renee!  You’re the “Is Your Business Ready for Cyber Monday?” contest winner!  I’ll need your email address and regular address to ship your prize in the next 4 to 6 weeks.  Congratulations again! 😀

  5. Hi Renee! Welcome to the blog and congratulations on your business.  🙂  It’s good that you plan to build relationships with your customers through social media and a newsletter.  It also looks like you have a solid plan in place to do promotions leading up to Cyber Monday.  I’d just like to caution you on planning too many price promotions.  You don’t want to train your customers to only buy from you when there’s a sale going on.  Also, make sure you speak about the great benefits of your products and not just the low price.  Feel free to contact me offline if you want to chat more in depth.
